Ready for Halloween!

I've been having a blast getting ready for Halloween.  This is the first year EVER that I'm going to have trick-or-treaters and I couldn't be more excited about it!  Now I realize they won't be touring the inside of my house but decorating it helps me get in the Halloween spirit!

The haunted house my mom made.  She's made some amazing stuff!!

Another mamma treat!  She's has such a good time making these with her scrapbook buddies!

This is what's over my mantel now.  In case you can't see it, it says spooky and a scrapbook haunted house sits on top!

These were soooo much fun to make.  Plus guests have been scooping up the candy so it's a two in one deal!

I love my BOO letters.  Probably the easiest to make but they'll be great year after year.

Yet another one of mom's creations.  She does a great job with them =)

And the living room all put together.  It's simple things here and there but it gets each room ready for the season!  This is the only room the trick-or-treaters will see so I put in a few extra pillows to complete the look!

I've never been into Halloween before this year but the crafting has been so much fun I can't wait for the next holiday to decorate for.  I've already started making my Christmas stockings and a new tree skirt.  I can't wait to see what everyone else will do!

It's Summer Time!

It's getting to be pretty warm outside but the nights still cool down which make it great porch sitting weather!!  I've been meaning to spruce my porch up a bit but never got around to it.  I've been looking for the perfect bench to put out there and two weeks ago I finally found one!!  It's older looking but super sturdy which made the purchase a no brainer.  After 6 months of searching I had found it!  Plus it gave me an excuse to make some pillows. =)

Then last week and Junk in the Trunk I found a wheelbarrow that is perfect for planting flowers in.  My porch is starting to come together!

I'd had a table and two chairs out there for a couple years now.  They don't look so lonely out there anymore and the porch is much more fun to sit on as well!  It took me 2 1/2 years but I finally did it!

Making some Vases

So I took a few days off of work and decided to do some crafting again!  I hadn't don't much since Christmas and realized how much I'd been missing it!  I've seen vases like these on Pinterest but much bigger.  They took some time to do but were so worth it!

Items needed: Vases, yarn, hot glue gun, & glue

Start gluing the yarn onto the vase.  Just work around the vase and glue every so often so that the yarn stays in place.  Like I'd said, this part is very time consuming but worth it at the end!  I have a window in my guest shower which is where I put them.  I only made three and it took about 2 hours.  Great to do while watching a movie with the hubby! =)  I also bought some flowers to put in the vases (fake of course!) which gave me the complete package!

I took a picture of them in the window but you couldn't see them well.  I love them and will be making more soon!

Crafting

So I had a random day off from work and decided to spend it crafting away!  My mom came down to the valley to help out and we made an entire day of it!  First stop was goodwill to get a few shirts/sweaters.  You'll see why the sweaters came in handy in a bit.  Next was JoAnn's......my recent favorite store!!  I could spend hours in there which is why I usually bring a list of what I need.  Way to time consuming otherwise.  So after we got everything we needed we headed back home to begin working!  I've recently been on pinterest.com quite a bit and if you haven't discovered it, you MUST!!  I have gotten so many amazing ideas from pinterest and really enjoy seeing things that others have created.  Here are some pictures of the items we made today!

So this is where the goodwill sweaters came in handy.  You just cut off the sleeve and sew on a base (I used plain white fabric).  So easy and super cute for the winter.

Here's a link to where I found this awesome idea!

So my cousin Jenni made these a while ago and I thought they were super cute.  Now these two are going to be Christmas Presents but I'm not saying who just in case they find this site!!

This was very easy to complete but turned out great.  I did buy a snowflake ornament to put on top of my tree which helped to finish it off!  So the link is for a wreath but instead of buying a Styrofoam wreath, buy a Styrofoam tree!

This is the final finished project of the day.  It took many a days to finish (and a little help from mom) but it turned out awesome!  It's my first pillow and first sewing machine experience.  Even after a few problems and having mom come to the rescue, I think I'll try another pillow again soon!  The website I found this tutorial from was amazing.  She has so many neat things to create!!

So all and all it was a very busy day!  I even have one more project underway but it's not done and I want to show off the final pictures when it is!

Moving on Up!

I know it's been a few weeks and I'm sorry!  I have been busy with my travels back to NE (more to come on that soon) and getting promoted!!!  I have been working for Enterprise Rent a Car for 1 year and 11 months and I've hit the branch manager position!  1 big reason I wanted this was because I get a company car (if anyone is looking for a vehicle we have a 2010 kia optima for sale!)!!!

So last Monday I was meeting with my boss to talk about my upcoming interview when I found out it would be the next morning.  I had definitely researched the position and done my homework but I was still pretty nervous.  The next morning I had to be at work at 4:30 am so I worked until 8:30ish and then took off for the interview.  It went well but for some reason I didn't have good feelings about it afterwards.  There were 2 other people interviewing and they had both been with the company for at least 6 months longer than I'd been.  I knew I had a good track record with the company so I was hoping both that and my ideas to make the location even better would pay off.  They told me I'd hear by 1 pm the next day as that's when I was leaving for my vacation.  Well 1 pm came and went and by the time I went to bed that night still no call!  I woke up the next day and didn't really think too much about it.  I was on vacation and wasn't going to spend it staring at my phone!  That afternoon my mom and I walked into Von Maur and my phone rang.  It was them calling to tell me if I got the position or not.  After about 5 minutes of talking they told me I was in!!!!  I was so happy and could then enjoy my vacation worry free! I started yesterday morning and am feeling more in the swing of things after a couple days.  I really like who I am working with and can't wait to learn and grow even more!!!

Ceremony Pictures!

So I've had my wedding pictures back for a few weeks now and I have tons!!  I love that I have so many so I can see it from every angle.  I've felt so overwhelmed on which ones to put on here so I've delayed posting them.  I finally went through the ceremony pictures and chose a few of my favorites.  It was a quiet ceremony with 16 guests.  My brother Jon officiated the ceremony and my other brother Andy videotaped it.  With my cousin Jenni taking pictures we were set! Here are a few of my favorite.

Notice both of our mothers on the right side.....  I'll have to admit they held it together very well!

So after the ceremony we hopped on a golf cart and our photographer hopped in another one.  We drove around the golf course to take some gorgeous pictures.  They will come soon I promise!!

P.S.  Do you like the new layout?!?   I DO!!!

Blogging 101

So as I'm sure you can tell I'm pretty new to this blogging thing but very excited!!  Tomorrow I'm meeting with my amazing, crafty, creative, cousin Jenni and she's going to help me spruce it up!  Can't wait to see my favorite family in Goodyear!
